5 Lessons To Be Learnt From The Life Of Dhirubhai Ambani
1. Background Doesn’t Matter Every time
There’s a very weird misconception prevailing in society that one should follow the family’s profession. Had Dhirubhai followed it, he would have been a teacher instead of a businessman as his father Hirachanda Gordhanbhai was a teacher in a small village of Junagadh district.
2. Don’t Be Afraid To Take Risks
If you are not taking risks, you are not heading anywhere. Though you have to pay for the risks, results are worth paying for. And Dhirubhai’s risk-taking ability brought huge success to him. His friends used to call him extremely ambitious.

3. Value Skills Over Degree
Success is often evaluated with degrees, the more qualified you are, the chances of being successful are higher. Absolutely false!
Do you even know how qualified Dhirubhai was? He studied till the 10th but never stopped learning as skills were the most important thing for him. And we don’t have to tell you the results of his belief.

4. Never Stop Believing On Yourself
We never lose against people, we always lose against ourselves and it happens when we believe others more than us. Never stop believing what you think is right and would work for you. Dhirubhai Ambani always did what he believed.
In 1965 he parted ways with Champaklal Damani who was his business partner due to differences in their business ideologies. Had he not took a risk and gave up in the middle; the future of Reliance would have ended with their partnership.
5. Don’t Be Afraid To Start With Small
Before becoming the business tycoon, he worked at a gas station and even sold chaat-pakoda. He began his first company in 1960 in collaboration with his cousin. The office was not big, only 2 employees were there working in a small 350 sqft of room with not many facilities.
Reliance Industries is now one of the largest employing companies in India with more than 10 child companies under its umbrella.
There’s a Dhirubhai within everyone provided you believe your potential, skills, and don’t give up until you reach the goal.
