Miss Universe 2023 Winner: R’Bonney Gabriel of the United States won the 71st Miss Universe pageant, held in New Orleans on Saturday night. She is the first Filipino American to win the title. Amanda Dudamel of Venezuela was the first runner-up, Andreina Martinez of the Dominican Republic was the second runner-up, and India’s Divita Rai placed outside of the top three.

Gabriel closed her eyes and joined hands with Amanda Dudamel at the decisive moment of the competition when the winner was announced. She smiled brightly after hearing her name and was presented with a bouquet of flowers, a sash and a tiara on stage. When the three finalists were asked how they would illustrate Miss Universe is a powerful and progressive association if they won, Gabriel answered the question. Music blared as she was awarded the crown.

She replied that she would employ it to be a transformational leader, bringing to mind her art of fashion design with recycled materials and teaching sewing to those that have experienced human trafficking and domestic violence. She went on to emphasize the significance of investing in others, the community, and utilizing one’s exceptional talent to make a positive difference.

MISS UNIVERSE 2023: INDIA’S DIVITA RAI POSTS ON SOCIAL MEDIA AFTER LOSING THE CROWN

Divita Rai, India’s representative in the Miss Universe pageant, was unsuccessful in her bid for the crown. She expressed her gratitude on Instagram to the audience, organisers and her mentors for their support throughout her journey. She stated that she has come a long way, conquering personal challenges and milestones, and thanked the Miss Diva team, Vineet Jain and Naughty Natty G, for giving her the opportunity to be part of the competition. Lastly, the beauty queen expressed her gratitude to the people of India for their encouragement. She ended her post with a promise to continue to enjoy life to the fullest and to feel confident every day.>

Miss Universe contestant Gabriel is a former high school volleyball player who graduated from the University of North Texas and is now the CEO of her own sustainable clothing line. At the ceremony, she said, “We all have something special, and when we share our gifts with those around us, we can be a catalyst for positive change.”
