How did Draupadi Murmu Overcome Loss of Her Husband and Sons?

A few months ago, the world was unaware of Draupadi Murmu. But after her name came up for the President Elections 2022, it was clear that even a tribal woman can sit at the top position of Government.

Though we are waiting for the results of the elections, her chances of becoming the 15th President of India are high. Not because Mumru is getting strong support from the party but because her determination, and work for her people and society make her deserving.

The Governor of Jharkhand has come very far to make a mark in the life of others and emerged as an inspiration for everyone.

Draupadi Murmu Biography

She completed her graduation from Ramadevi Women's College Bhubneswar and took a job as a school teacher in Mayurbhanj, Odisha. Later, she became an assistant professor in Shri Aurobindo Integral Education and Research.

She got married to Shyam Charan Murmu and the couple had 3 children. Draupadi Murmu also worked as a Junior Assitant in Odisha's Government. But fate brought her to politics where she became a BJP member in 1997.

Her work for the betterment of society and tribal people paved the way in political life. For her politics was no dirty business, it is a platform to improve everyone's life.

Back-to-Back Tragedies in Personal Life

The personal life of Draupadi Murmu is full of tragedies but they are real lessons for others. She never let the pain and suffering from becoming an obstacle to success.

Draupadi Murmu and her husband had two sons and one daughter whose name is Itishree Murmu. Murmu lost her first son in 2009 which broke her into multiple pieces.

Before she could find peace with the loss, an unfortunate accident took her second son's life. Murmu was completely broken and suffered depression.

The suffering and pain did not go away, in fact, turned intense with a sequence of deaths. Draupadi Murmu lost her mother and brother the same year she lost her second son.

As if that was not enough to break this strong woman, she lost her husband Shyam Charan Murmu in 2014.

A New Begining for Draupadi Murmu

• Served as Minister of State with independent charge for Commerce and Transportation for two years from 2000 to 2002
• She was Minister of Fisheries and Animal Resources Department from the year 2002 to 2004
• Murmu was also the MLA from Rairangpur Assembly Constituency in 2004
• On 18 May 2015, she became Governor of Jharkhand. Murmu was the first tribal woman to hold that position.

Draupadi Murmu is now all set to become the President of India.
