On Tuesday, during a New York Times Dealbook conference, Apple CEO Tim Cook said that he personally owns cryptocurrency. He had been interested in cryptocurrency ‘for a while and researching the topic.
Cook told Andrew Ross Sorkin in an interview that “I don’t think it’s reasonable to own it as part of a diversified portfolio” and “ I am not giving anyone investment advice by the way”.

Cook also clarified that there is no possibility of Apple investing in cryptocurrency with their corporate funds.
He said, “I wouldn’t go invest in crypto, not because I wouldn’t invest in my own money, But because I don’t think people buy Apple stocks to get exposure to crypto”.

He also said that Apple is looking at crypto, but has no immediate plan to accept cryptocurrency for its products or launch such functionality in Apple Pay.

During the interview, Tim Cook also talked about Apple’s App store commission rate. He said that most of the developers charge a 15% cut instead of the full 30%. There will be more changes in the Apple App Store in the future. He also said that the users who want to install apps from the web or somewhere else can buy an Android device instead of an iPhone.
