20,000 Electric SUVs Launched: Mahindra XUV400 to Make a Big Impact

Mahindra & Mahindra Limited announced on Monday its goal to deliver 20,000 units of the recently released XUV400 electric SUV in the first year of going on sale.

The car, which was unveiled in September of last year, will be available in two variants and can be purchased in 34 cities in phase I.

Bookings for the XUV400 will begin on January 26, 2023 and deliveries will start in March 2023 for the ‘EL’ variant and during the Diwali season for the ‘EC’ variant. The ‘EC’ variant comes with a 34.5kWh battery and a range of 375km and can be bought with either a 3.3kW or 7.2kW charger for a starting price of Rs. 15.99 lakh.

M&M stated that the EL variant has a 39.4kWh battery and can cover a distance of 456km with its 7.2kW charger, priced at Rs. 18.99 lakh.

The first 5,000 bookings of each variant, EC and EL, will benefit from the introductory prices. The company is aiming to deliver 20,000 units of the XUV400 within a year, bearing in mind the issues of a shortage of automotive-grade semiconductors and battery packs.

Veejay Nakra, President of the Automotive Sector of M&M, expressed his assurance that their first electric SUV will arouse and motivate more Indian customers to switch to electric vehicles.

He stated that the XUV400 will be competing in the segment of compact electric SUVs, which is currently dominated by Tata Motors’ NexonEV series that ranges from Rs. 14.99 to Rs. 20.04 lakh.
