Many believe that women on periods should not be allowed entry into the temples. Even in learned and educated families, girls and women have to face this taboo. They are not allowed to worship God when they need it the most. Like, how can you stop someone from praying to the lord when she is bleeding. It is considered a sin to enter or even see the idol’s face in many households.

Strange isn’t it! A woman is an embodiment of Goddess Durga and Lakshmi itself but is not allowed entry into the temple because she is on her period. Breaking the myth, the real reason why women are advised not to visit temples is extremely scientific.

According to Yoga, there are infinite energy points on earth out of which 6 reside in the human body. In temples, these energy points are balanced through the establishment of stones on them. The energy levels in these points are balanced. During the menstrual cycle, the body temperature of a woman’s body is high or in simple terms, there is more heat generated.

Touching these temple stones or idol statues in the temple can create a strong energy exchange. The extra heat can imbalance the energies of the stones and thus it is advised not to touch these when on periods. This is the reason why stones are washed with milk, water, and various other elements to keep them cool and the energies balanced.
