One amazing thing here is it not only embellishes woman but there is a scientific reason behind it. There is a science behind wearing every piece of ornaments. Especially in Hindu culture it is strictly to never remove some jewels.
It is also said that these Indian ornaments are symbolized as Goddess Lakshmi. Hence there is are some more deep mysteries involved in such precious stones. Let’s discover scientific meaning behind each ornament.
1) Silver and Gold
Both Silver and Gold are precious metals and are preferred most in Indian Traditional ornaments. Meanwhile have you ever observed that majorly Gold ornaments are worn on the upper parts of a body and silver on the lower parts of a body. There is an interesting scientific explanation for this.
Silver reacts with Earth’s energy more and gold goes well with body’s energy and aura. Consequents silver is worn as anklets or Toe-ring (bichia) and gold is enhanced at upper parts of the body.
2) Bangles
Bangles are worn to regulate Blood circulation level. Apparent friction between bangles increases the blood circulation level. Also electricity flowing out through the skin is again returned back to body because of round-bangles only. Thus it helps to recover and balance energy in the body.

3) Mangalsutra
Mangalsutra signifies the sign of married woman. Its structure is of immense importance. The string of it is made of gold and silver and in the centre of Mangalsutra there are two cups. It is required that cups should be spherical with no design in it. This form is connected with ‘Energy of Knowledge’. These cups are known to stimulate positive energies
The golden beads are there to wipe out the negative vibrations present in the Universe through its energy of Fire element. 4) Finger Rings
Well these are worn by both men and women and carries a great significance. As the nerves of our body are connected to each and metal of a ring helps in managing a good health.
- Index Finger- Index Finger nerves are connected to brain that reaches the learning capacitor neurons
- Ring Finger- The nerves passing through this finger is outspread to the entire brain neuron cells and hence any constant metallic friction in this finger is considered good for health. Ring finger also has a nerve that is connected to heart through body.
- Little Finger Ring of this finger is responsible for brain-controlling process and any friction in it may affect thoughts.
- Thumb Ring in this finger incites pleasure hormones. And have an unfavouable effect on organs.
- Middle Finger– It is not recommended to wear ring in this finger because the nerve of this finger passes through the brain divider line. Any metallic friction caused here can affect thought process and creates confusion and negatively impacts decision making ability.
5) Earrings
This ornament is a best remedy for bad health. You naturally heal by wearing earrings. If any woman wants to lose weight or suffering from obesity, they should wear earrings. As earrings are adorned at a point known as hunger point on the ear which looks after the diet. Earrings are related to ‘acupuncture’ effect.
6) Nose Rings
It is associated with female reproductive organ.Nose ring is said to be enriched on the left nostrils because from here nerves are led to reproductive organs.Consequently increases the chances of conceiving, reduces the pain and eases the delivery of a child. According to ancient, Ayurveda it also helps in loweing the pain during monthly menstrual cycle of a woman.
7) Toe –Ring (Bichia)
Toe ring is usually worn at the second toe whose nerves are connected to the uterus through the heart. It is used to balance the blood pressure. And even keeps the reproductive system healthy and productive. Toe ring maintains the menstrual cycle in a timely manner.
8) Vermillion (Sindoor)
Sindoor is related to mitigating stress, anxieties and strains. According to Hindu mythology applying vermillion in the forehead energizes chakras which invites comic and pranic energy. Vermillion is made with mercury which is responsible for controlling blood pressure, intensifying sexual drives and libidinal energy. It is one of the primary Indian ornaments.
9) Bindi
Bindi is put between eyebrows which is also known sixth chakra named as ‘Agna’. It is linked with increasing wisdom, intuition, power and concentration.
10) Anklets (Payal)
Wearing Anklets help to generate lots of positive energy. There is another reason behind wearing Payals, with wearing lots of gold jewellery, electric currents gets accumulated. 11) Maang Tika
