Maruti Suzuki has opened bookings for its new Invicto MPV for Rs 25,000, and customers can book it either on Maruti Suzuki’s website or through the Nexa chain of dealerships.
The car is a badge-engineered sibling of the Toyota Innova Hycross, and though the price announcement is on July 5, we expect it to be the first Maruti model that will be priced above the Rs 20 lakh mark in India.
- Maruti Suzuki Invicto is based on the Toyota Innova Hycross
- Will be the first Maruti Suzuki to be offered solely with an automatic
- It will be sold via Nexa dealerships
Maruti Suzuki Invicto exterior and interior
Maruti Suzuki will give the Invicto a different grille—two chrome slats, one of which extends into the headlights—to set it apart from the Hycross. Additionally, it will get a distinctive alloy wheel design, new headlight and taillight inserts, and a bumper that has been slightly altered.
To keep costs down, the interior of the car will also receive minor adjustments to the upholstery and new additions to the list of features. Maruti Suzuki might not include all of the ADAS components or just a few of them.
Maruti Suzuki Invicto powertrains
- The 2.0-liter strong-hybrid powertrain of the Invicto’s higher-end trims is likely to be paired with an e-CVT similar to the Innova Hycross.
- While the gasoline engine of the car entry-level trims is likely to be paired with a CVT.
- The Invicto will be the first Maruti Suzuki model to only come with an automatic transmission as a result of this.
Maruti Suzuki Invicto positioning
Similar to how Toyota produces the Grand Vitara and Hyryder simultaneously, the car will be manufactured at Toyota’s Bidadi plant alongside the Hycross. The car price will likely be higher than the equivalent Hycross model because Maruti Suzuki will have to pay Toyota a royalty for using Toyota’s TNGA-C platform and strong-hybrid powertrain.
Rivals and price
The car will compete primarily with its Toyota sibling, the Innova Hycross, in the premium MPV segment. It will also compete with the Kia Carnival, but at a slightly higher price (between Rs 30.99 lakh and 35.49 lakh).
