Lockdown Extension:Maharashtra CM Says “ Will Decide After April 14”

The 21 days lockdown across the country will end on April 14. But it seems that lockdown may continue as Chief Ministers of some states are requesting PM for the extend. To this, Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray did not give any firm opinion.

He said, “ only after the end of lockdown, will decide whether to continue the lockdown or not .” On Monday, Uddhave Thackeray held a video conferencing meeting with his cabinet. In the meeting at Thackeray’s residence, few ministers such as Eknath Shinde, Jayant Patil, and more were physically present.

The Maharashtra CM in the meeting made it clear that no prior decision on lockdown will be taken as of now. Only after the lockdown, he will take any decision. Furthermore, the figures for the availability of all the necessary medical equipment were discussed. In addition to this, he also took the analysis of the availability of community kitchens and essential commodities.

On this, the Principal Secretary Of Health Department and Commissioner of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation gave a brief about the measures taken. Also, he decided to expand the ‘Shiv Bhojan’ scheme. Now, people can get a meal at Rs 5 for three months. The centers serve affordable meals to people open between 11 am to 3 pm.

During the lockdown, many laborers have lost their jobs. The decision of an affordable meal scheme was taken, keeping these poor laborers in mind. Moreover, to ensure the guidelines of lockdown, there will be home guards and local officials as well. The CM asked all the district collectors to decide appropriate timings for the distributions of the meal and essential items.

Till now, there is no announcement of extending the lockdown. The rest depends on the conditions.
