Covid-19 Vaccine: Bharat Biotech To Soon Begin Human Trials

Scientists and pharmaceutical companies of various countries are working on developing a vaccine against coronavirus. There are around 140 drugs and vaccines as a part of the experiment. Among these, 11 of them are under clinical trials as per The Wall Street Journal.

India is also working on vaccine development. A vaccine manufacturer from Hyderabad, Bharat Biotech, was working for long to develop an intranasal vaccine. The vaccine is now at the initial stage of testing. The University of Wisconsin-Madison, Bharat Biotech, and FluGen are working in collaboration for testing. The trial is under progress in the United States.

However, the human trials will begin by the end of 2020 as per the Pune-based Serum Institute. Bharat Biotech’s Chairman and MD, Dr. Krishna Ella, said,” the R&D experiments on the vaccine are over and now it under the animal trial stage.” They are ensuring complete safety while testing on animals as well.

Furthermore, Ella also said that animal tests would take a few months to get safe results. Also, they are working on a vaccine platform and will soon begin human trials in the next four months. He also said that the dosage for humans is already set.

If the vaccine tests’s results become successful, then soon, the world will get its first effective covid-19 vaccine.
