Delhi Police Inducts 250 Units of Mahindra Bolero and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga

The Delhi Police recently inducted 250 units of both the Mahindra Bolero and Maruti Suzuki Ertiga to their fleet. The former comprised 150 units, while only 100 units of the latter have been inducted as of now.

Gone are the days when the police would travel in open-top Jeeps. Nowadays, their fleet is equipped with modern vehicles, the likes of which include the Toyota Innova, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Mahindra Bolero, and Mahindra Scorpio. Recently, the Delhi Police inducted both the Ertiga and the Bolero, and we jot down how these new patrol vehicles are technologically equipped.

The Ministry of Home Affairs approved the procurement of a total of 850 units of these new light motor vehicles for Delhi Police so that the efficiency and mobility of the department see an improvement. These vehicles will be deployed across various police stations and will assist the police in patrolling and other operations as well.

Out of these 850 units, 300 are Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, 200 units are Mahindra Bolero, 100 units of the Mahindra Scorpio, and 250 units of the Toyota Innova.

The most recent safety equipment will be installed in each of these vehicles. In addition, the Ertiga has airbags, ABS with EBD, and other safety features. The brand’s 1.5-liter K Series Petrol engine, which can be mated to a 5-speed manual or 6-speed AT, produces 104 horsepower and 138 lb-ft of torque. The ARAI-certified range of the new Ertiga is 19.34 km/l with the manual gearbox, while it is 18.69 km/l with the AT gearbox.

When foreign dignitaries visit the city in September for the G20 summit later this year, these brand-new vehicles will be used to protect them. Lt. recently gave the go-ahead for this brand-new fleet’s first lot. Gov. V. K. Saxena and the remaining units will be gradually integrated into the fleet.

On the other hand, the Mahindra Bolero is a true workhorse. The 7-seater, 3-column model has been a well-known presence in the organization’s line-up. It is mechanically driven by a 1.5-liter m-Hawk turbo diesel engine with 75 bhp and 210 Nm of torque. The engine is only mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
