After over 2 years, Microsoft Corp. co-founder Bill Gates once again became the World’s richest person surpassing Amazon.com Inc.’s founder, Jeff Bezos on Friday.
The credit for this ‘Coup d’tat’ goes to Pentagon, who, in a rather surprising decision awarded a $10 billion cloud-computing contract to Microsoft over Amazon.
Further, Amazon losing $10 billion projects to Microsoft also helped the Satya Nadella-led company gain on the stock market.
If Bloomberg Billionaires Index’s reports are to be believed, Microsoft shares jumped 4 per cent after the announcement, adding $110 billion to Gate’s fortune.
Wait, my ‘gareeb’ self cannot handle so much monetary upheaval!
FYI, Gates had briefly taken over Bezos last month, but only for a day. Also, you’ll be surprised to know that it was Bezos, who dethroned Gates after his 24-year run as the richest man in 2018 with a net worth of $160 billion.
