The discovery of a new covid-19 variant in South Africa has scared the entire world and the first to get heavily affected are traders and investors. On Friday morning, the trading session opened with 540.3 points but fell off by 1488.01 points where Nifty observed a decline of 448.05 points. The B.1.1.529 South Africa variant is the cause as scientists found it as a “very unusual constellation of mutations.”

The Health Security Agency of the UK has identified different spike proteins and more mutations in the new variant which has doubled their concerns. This is why they doubt that variant may be more deadly and faster in terms of transmitting. It could severely affect the immune system of the body and easily resist the covid vaccines.

Whether B.1.1.529 variant which is termed as ‘heavily mutated’ is really a cause of concern or not, will be discussed in today’s special meeting of WHO.

India And Britain To Impose Travel Restrictions Again

India is thus planning to curb the relaxation on travel and conduct rigorous screening of international passengers.

Britain has once again banned the flights coming from the affected countries seeing the rising concerns and higher transmissibility of new covid variant B.1.1.529. Apart from South Africa, Hong Kong, and Botswana, flights from Zimbabwe, Eswatini, Namibia, and Lesotho will not be allowed to enter the borders. Citizens of the U.K arriving from these countries should quarantine.
