For the past few days, Yamuna has been filled with foam as a result of toxic waste disposal by the industries. This led to rising in ammonia and phosphate content in water due to which water turned foamy.
It did not capture the attention of officials until Chhath Puja began and devotees were forced to bath in it risking their health. Opposition leaders and party members even criticized the government for its ignorance.
