A long-running distance event has seen so many human emotions, joy, sports spirit, and humanity. From telephone, electric camel, minions, ice creams, and helicopters to cheerleaders, and house tap, these weird costumes add more humor to the race.
Many records are broken today at the London Marathon. Many famous celebrities took part in that mega race event including former health secretary Matt Hancock, comedian Romesh Ranganathan, BBC newsreader Sophie Raworth, and Hardest Geezer Russell Cook were the main stars of the race.
Who won at the London Marathon Event?
The whole Londoner took part in the race, their spirit roaring during the event. Black athletes take the centre stage. The total prize money is $ 621,000 would be awarded to the athletes, who competed at the London Marathon event 2024.
The elite runners who are long-distance athletes, won the prize cash money of $55,000 each. The second and third-place athletes won the cash money of $30,000 and $22,000 at the 44th installment of the marathon.
For the first time, the wheelchair runner was awarded the same prize money as the winner of the elite runner.
Men’s Winner: The Kenyan Alexander Mutiso broke the record by winning the race at a record time of 2:04:01. He beat the Ethiopian rival, Kenenisa Bekele, a multiple-time Olympic and World Champion in 10,000 and 5000m and two-time Berlin Marathon winner.
Britain Emile Cairess achieved third in the marathon. He dedicated his success to his cousin, who was in a coma due to an accident. He also books his place in the Paris Olympics..
Britain Mahamed Mahamed placed fourth in the race.
Women Winner: Kenya Peres Jerepchirchir won first in the marathon and she broke the record of 2:16:16. She broke the record of the previous year’s runner Kenyan Marry Keitany in 2017.
Ethiopian Tigst Assefa and Joycline Jepkosgei from Kenya placed second and third in the race.
Wheelchair winner: The Swiss duo won the marathon, in a man section Marcel Hug won with a breaking time of 1:28:35, and in the women’s section Catherine Debrunner won the race with a record-breaking time of 1:38:54.
In the men’s section, Daniel Romanchuk got second with a record-breaking time of 1:29:06 of the United States and David Weir of the United Kingdom got third with a record-breaking time of 1:29:58.
In the women’s section, Manuela Schar got second rank in the wheelchair race and Tatyana McFadden placed third in the race.
History of the London Marathon
London Marathon is the 6 World longes race. The history goes back to the year 1981 when Olympic champion and Journalist Chris Bashner and the athlete John Disley.
In London, it was not the first marathon the Polytechnic Marathon was first held in 1909.
The historical event of the race commenced on 29th March 1981. At present the race is sponsored by the TCS group and it is named TCS London Marathon.

The charity of the year is the London Samaritans, an organization that is dialing away from people who are in a distressing condition wanted to commit suicide. It’s one of the volunteers David Lock, who is 62 and now running in a costume of telephone, he himself took the help of Samaritans a year ago when he was feeling suicidal. Now he is helping other people who are in the same situation.
