Tata Motors has launched the Tata Nexon EV in India on KO (24 September) with a larger 45kWh battery pack. With this, the range of the car has now become 489 km on full charge instead of 465 km. Tata Nexon EV competes with Mahindra XUV400 EV, Tata Curve EV and MG Windsor EV.
Nexon EV is available in four variants –
- Creative,
- Fearless,
- Empowered
- and Empowered Plus,
with ex-showroom prices ranging from Rs 13.99 lakh to Rs 16.99 lakh. The company has now given the option of a panoramic sunroof in it and has also added new features.
Apart from this, a new Red Dark Edition of Nexon EV has also been introduced. Which is based on its top model Empowered + and its ex-showroom price is Rs 17.19 lakh. With this, the starting price of Nexon EV Long Range has been reduced by Rs 60,000 with the Creative variant.
Tata Nexon EV: Battery, Range and Charging
- Battery and Range: Tata Nexon EV Long Range now has a 45kWh battery pack with Tata Curve, which gives a range of 489 km on full charge. Apart from this, battery pack options of 30kWh (range-325 km) and 40.5kWh (range-465 km) are also available in the Tata Nexon EV.
- Charging: The new battery pack of Nexon EV can be charged from 10 to 80% in just 40 minutes with a 60 kW fast charger. To charge the new Tata Nexon EV, 7.2 kWh charging support has been provided. The company claims to charge 10-80% in 56 minutes with a fast charger. The model also offers V2L and V2V (vehicle-to-vehicle) charging.
- IP67 safety to the battery pack: The battery pack gets IP67 safety. Talking about other safety features, it includes emergency call and breakdown calls as well as hill descent control, hill ascent control, panic brake alert, auto vehicle hold, and i-TPMS.
Tata Nexon EV 45 Red Dark Edition: Special
Tata Nexon EV 45 comes with a carbon black exterior shade, which makes it different from other variants. It has piano black black chrome 2D Tata logo, a piano black lower grille, a special dark mascot, and charcoal roof rails. The SUV Piano gets jet-black 16-inch alloy wheels with black tint lacquer.
Tata Nexon EV Performance
Electric SUV Tata Nexon EV has a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor for performance. This is a second-generation motor, which can run up to 16,000 rpm. The new motor generates a power of 142.6 bhp and a maximum torque of 250 Nm. The company claims that the car achieves a speed of 0-100 kmph in 8.9 seconds. Its top speed is 150 kmph, which is 30 kmph more than the old model.
The SUV has the lowest rolling resistance tire. Apart from this, multi-mode regen is available to charge the battery through a regenerative system. The motor has been tuned with a brand-new gear knob and paddle shifters. Also, the car has three driving modes – Eco, City, and Sport.
Tata Nexon EV Interior
Inside the cabin too, the black theme is available with contrasting red elements. It has an all-black-themed cabin, while the dashboard gets a satin midnight black finish, which is granite black with a red dark double deco stitch. The instrument cluster of this car also has a special red dark edition special user interface.
