SS Rajamouli’s RRR Takes Home ‘Best Foreign Film’ At Critics’ Choice Awards

RRR wins at Critics’ Choice Award: At the 28th Critics’ Choice Awards, SS Rajamouli’s RRR made India proud by winning the award for ‘Best Foreign Language Film’. A tweet from the Critics’ Choice Awards Twitter handle stated, “Congratulations to the cast and crew of @RRRMovie – winners of the #criticschoice Award for Best Foreign Language Film. #CriticsChoiceAwards (sic).” This comes after the success of RRR at the Golden Globes.

RRR, which stars Jr NTR and Ram Charan in the lead and has been garnering a lot of appreciation in the West amid its Oscar nominations campaigning, won the ‘Best Original Song – Motion Picture’ Award for ‘Naatu Naatu’, competing with other films such as ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’, ‘Argentina 1985’, ‘Bardo’, ‘False Chronicle of a Handful of Truths’, ‘Close’ and ‘Decision to Leave’.

At an international awards ceremony in LA, Rajamouli proudly displayed his culture when he accepted a prestigious award wearing a black sherwani kurta and beige pants, paired with a shawl.

RRR is one of the most expensive Indian films to date, directed by Rajamouli. The story follows the journeys of two real-life Indian revolutionaries from South India, Alluri Seetharam Raju and Komaram Bheem, as they fight for their country. The cast includes Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Shriya Saran, Samuthirakani, Ray Stevenson, Alison Doody, and Olivia Morris. In the film, Alluri and Komaram are imagined as friends, fighting against the British Raj together, even though in real life they fought in different timelines.
