Sporting Icon Milkha Singh Passes Away, Sport & Film Industry Paid Their Sincere Homage

Milkha Singh bid adieu to the world following covid-19 complications on Friday night. The 91-year old took his last breath in the PGIMER hospital. A few days ago, his wife Nirmal Kaur passed away in Mohali, Chandigarh.

Unfortunately, both husband and wife lost the battle of life against covid-19. President Ram Nath Kovid, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, sports and film industry paid their sincere condolences to the “Flying Singh” via Twitter.

Sport Industry Pays Tribute To Milkha Singh, Call Him “Synonymous With Courage”

Former Indian cricketer, Virendra Sehwag remembered the 3-time Olympian for his courage and willpower.

PT Usha also mourned the demise of Milkha Singh and paid homage to her idol and inspiration.

Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju, Saina Nehwal, Anju Bobby George, and Farhan Akhtar also paid tribute to Padma Shri awardee Milkha Singh.

The legendary athlete was the first to win gold in both Commonwealth and Asian Games in the 400 m race. Former Indian sprinter made several records and one of those where he finished the race in 45.73 seconds remained unbreakable for 40 years.

Later, Paramjit Singh broke his record by finishing the race in a record time of 45.70 seconds. Milkha Singh was the finest Indian athlete so far and also honored with the highest civilian award in 1959.

India has no other “Flying Sikh” and the world will always remember him for his humble nature, never-give-up attitude, and loving personality.
