Samsung has officially thrown its boldest smartphone yet into the US market. The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold, the company’s first-ever triple foldable phone, goes on sale starting January 30, and yes, it comes with a jaw-dropping price tag of $2,899 (approx. Rs 2,66,018).

Customers in the US can already try the device at Samsung Experience Stores, with full sales opening later this week via Samsung’s official website and retail outlets. After debuting in South Korea in December 2025 and briefly appearing in select global markets, this is Samsung’s most important rollout yet for its futuristic foldable experimFent.

Let’s be honest: this isn’t a phone for everyone. But it is a statement.

Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold price and availability details

The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold will be sold exclusively through Samsung’s own channels in the US. There’s no carrier tie-up, no discounts and no illusions about affordability.

  • Price: $2,899 (approx. Rs 2.65 lakh)
  • Variant: 16GB RAM + 512GB storage
  • Colour: Crafted Black
  • Sale date: January 30, 2026

That price makes it the most expensive mainstream smartphone ever sold in the US. Still, Samsung is clearly betting that early adopters, tech creators and professionals will see value beyond the sticker shock.

Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold display and design ambitions

The star of the show is the display. Unfold the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold, and you’re holding a massive 10-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. Fold it back, and you get a perfectly usable 6.5-inch cover display.

Samsung claims the dual-hinge design has been tested for over 200,000 folds, roughly equivalent to five years of heavy use. The phone is just 3.9mm thick when fully unfolded, which feels almost unreal for a device with three panels.

Materials matter here too. A titanium hinge, Armor Aluminium frame, Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 and IP48 dust and water resistance all signal that Samsung knows durability fears are real and expensive, at this price point.

Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold performance and software experience

Under the hood, the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset, paired with 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage globally. It runs Android 16 with One UI 8.0 on top.

This is where Samsung leans heavily into Galaxy AI. Features like Generative Edit, Sketch to Image and Gemini Live are deeply integrated, making multitasking feel more natural on the expansive screen. Samsung isn’t pitching this as just a phone, it’s positioning it as a portable productivity canvas.

And honestly, that pitch makes sense.

Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold camera and battery setup

For photography, Samsung isn’t holding back. The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold packs a 200MP primary camera with OIS, supported by a 12MP ultra-wide lens and a 10MP telephoto camera with up to 30x digital zoom. There are also two 10MP selfie cameras, one for the cover screen and one inside.

The 5,600mAh battery supports 45W wired and 15W wireless fast charging. It’s not class-leading on paper, but considering the thin design and massive display, it feels like a practical compromise.

Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold vs reality: is it worth $2,899?

Here’s the uncomfortable truth: $2,899 is hard to justify for most people. It’s nearly $900 more than the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and still firmly in luxury tech territory.

But this phone isn’t trying to win mass appeal. The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold exists to prove that triple foldables are no longer science experiments. Compared to Huawei’s Mate XT, which launched at an even higher price and without Google services, Samsung’s offering feels more complete and, strangely, more sensible.

This is Samsung testing the future in public.

If triple foldables are going to become mainstream in the next few years, someone has to take the first expensive step. Samsung just did, and the rest of the industry will be watching very closely.
