Samsung Bans ChatGPT And Other AI Tools !!

Samsung

Samsung apparently forbade the usage of generative AI tools like ChatGPT, Google Bard, and Bing AI chatbot following the recent data leak.

The corporation has informed the staff at one of its largest divisions, according to Bloomberg. This happened after Samsung engineers unintentionally exposed private information using ChatGPT.

Know The Reason

As a result of worries that the data utilized by these platforms is stored on external servers and can fall into the wrong hands, Samsung is said to have prohibited the usage of AI generative tools.

According to the article, Samsung‘s message to staff stated that “internal and external interest has been developing in generative AI platforms such as ChatGPT. While this interest is concentrated on the effectiveness and efficiency of these platforms, security concerns related to generative AI are also growing.

According to the document, the new restriction was implemented as a result of Samsung engineers accidentally disclosing internal source code by posting it on ChatGPT.

To provide a safe environment for deploying generative AI to increase workers’ productivity and efficiency, HQ is examining security measures. We are temporarily limiting the use of generative AI, nevertheless, until these countermeasures are ready, the memo said.

With the new policy in place, Samsung-owned laptops, tablets, and phones are now prohibited from using AI generative tools.

The Accidental Data Leak Of Samsung

The semiconductor division of Samsung had given permission for its engineers to use ChatGPT to assist in resolving issues with source code.

Top-secret information, including the source code for a new program and meeting notes about their hardware, were accidentally entered by the staff. Three such events were reported in just one month.

It was previously stated that Samsung Semiconductor is developing its own AI for internal use by staff in order to prevent making such errors. However, it will only be capable of handling prompts that are less than 1024 bytes in size.

“Godfather Of AI” Leaves Google

Concerns exist regarding potential risks that AI tools may present in the future. “Godfather of AI” Geoffrey Hinton has announced his resignation from Google

He claimed in a tweet that he quit Google in order to speak about the risks of AI without taking Google’s effects into account.

Geoffrey Hinton, 75, told the New York Times in a statement that he was leaving Google and that he now regretted his work.

He described some of the risks posed by AI chatbots as “quite scary” to the BBC.

As far as I can tell, they aren’t smarter than we are at the moment. But I believe they might come shortly.

In addition, Dr. Hinton acknowledged that his advanced age had influenced his choice to depart the tech behemoth, telling the BBC that “I’m 75, so it’s time to retire.”

Current AI systems like ChatGPT are the result of Dr. Hinton’s groundbreaking work in the fields of neural networks and deep learning.
