On Monday, Prime Minister has been talking to chief ministers of all the states via video conferencing. The purpose of this PM-CM Covid-19 Meet is to find some ways to strengthen the strategies against Covid-19 and economic activities as the 3.0 lockdown close an end.

The interaction attended by Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan, and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman among others.

Six-hour Meeting

The meeting is of six hours so that all participating chief ministers get a chance to give thier views during the interaction.

4.40 pm: At the meeting, Home minister Amit Shah also spoke. He said, “Aarogya Setu app is very helpful in tracking and combatting the spread of coronavirus and hence states should encourage their people to use it. He also stressed on the need for coordination between states to bring migrants back home.”

4.30 pm: The centre also asked Mamta Banerjee to asked respect the federal structure of the country. On this, she said, “the correspondence is leaked to the media before it even reaches the West Bengal government.”

4:05 pm: Centre preparing new Covid-19 policies based on the following data:

  • 216 districts still not reported any cases.
  • 603 of the 733 districts in green and orange zones are struggling with supply and labour chain issues.
  • 10 states have more positive cases.

3.50 pm: In the videoconference between the chief ministers and Prime Minister, the government is expected to work on various different strategies for orange, red and green zones.

3.30 pm: According to sources, “all states are demanding a graded exit from the third phase of the lockdown but both the state and central governments are unlikely to ease night-time restrictions.”

The nationwide lockdown has been applied since 25 March to break the chain of the novel Coronavirus, which has killed more than 2,200 people and more than 67,000 in the country.
