After holding out for long, Pakistan became the last nation to contribute to the SAARC covid-19 Emergency Fund. The Pakistan Government decided to contribute $3 million to the fund. But it will do on the condition.

Pakistan’s PM said that the Saar secretariat should administer all the facilities. Moreover, a statement came from Pakistan’s Foreign Office regarding the utilization of the fund. Consultations with all the members of SAARC should be there as per the Saarc charter.

The video conference was held on Wednesday between all the members of the SAARC. But, Pakistan did not attend the conference. The reason behind not attending it was the non-involvement of the SAARC secretariat in organizing it.

The proposal of the fund was made by PM Modi during the conference with an initial offer of USD 10 million. PM Modi said the only way to deal is coming together to fight this pandemic.
