Nissan is all prepared to strengthen its presence in the low-end budget family car segment in India by introducing a new 7-seater MPV in the market tomorrow, December 18. 

The next model that is expected to be called the Nissan Gravite, will see Nissan’s entry into the affordable segment of the B-segment MPV market and will be positioned lower than the compact SUVs of the brand.

The Nissan Gravite will be developed on the same platform as Renault Triber and will be targeted at practicality, safety, and value, essential factors for Indian families who wish to have a spacious and affordable people mover. Here is all you need to know before the official launch.

Nissan has already announced the launch date for its new MPV, December 18, 2025. Although the name of the vehicle has not been declared yet, industry sources indicate that the name will be Gravite, which Nissan has trademarked in 2023.

MPV will be positioned below the compact SUVs and emphasise on practicality, seating flexibility and value.

In terms of design, Nissan Gravite will be designed around the same platform and overall silhouette as the Renault Triber though it will have specific Nissan styling attributes in order to differentiate itself. 

The most notable visual modifications are expected to the front and rear with updated grille and bumper, updated headlamp, tail-lamp and a new rear bumper. 

The MPV is also expected to have new 15-inch alloy wheels. Nevertheless, with these modifications, the Gravite will remain shorter than four metres in length, but with the tall and upright MPV profile that gives a high priority to interior space.

The Nissan Gravite is likely to focus on space and practicality with a flexible 2+3+2 seating setup, which will be appropriate for family use. 

The MPV will probably feature a 8 inch touchscreen infotainment system capable of wireless Android auto and Apple CarPlay, as well as a semi-digital instrument cluster to the driver. 

Other amenities including push-button start, wireless smartphone charging, and manual air conditioning with specific rear AC vents are also expected. 

The third-row seats will most likely be removable to increase versatility, and the owners are expected to increase the boot space substantially when transporting larger luggage.

The upcoming Nissan MPV is expected to use the same engine as the Renault Triber and Nissan Magnite. Powertrain details:

  • 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine
  • Output of around 71 bhp and 96 Nm
  • Transmission options: 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT

A dealer-level CNG option is also expected to be offered at a later stage.

After the launch of the Gravite MPV, Nissan plans to introduce the Tekton midsize SUV in 2026. The Tekton will be based on the CMF-B platform and is expected to be powered by a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine.
