New Generation Toyota Camry Launched in India, Price at ₹ 48 Lakh

Toyota Motor today (December 11) launched the facelift model of its popular sedan Camry. The new generation Toyota Camry is offered in just one feature loaded variant and is priced at Rs 48 lakh (introductory ex-showroom, pan-India).

This is the 9th generation model of Camry, it has been introduced with new design, new interior layout, new comfort features, updated powertrain and Advanced Driving Assist System (ADAS) safety features. The car has a next-generation hybrid system, which the company claims will give a mileage of 25kmpl.

The 9th generation Toyota Camry is based on the TNGA-K platform. It is used in many Toyota and Lexus cars such as Alphard, Sienna, Venza, Lexus ES and Lexus RX. Talking about the design, it has been designed on the company’s new design theme and its look is quite futuristic.

The front of the car features a newly designed thin LED headlight with angular C-shaped DRL. Between the two headlamps is a honeycomb-patterned dual tone grille, which is painted in body color and extends towards the lower part of the car. Apart from this, there is a sharp bonnet crease and air duct on the bumper.

The side profile features 18-inch alloy wheels and is largely the same from the side. At the rear, it gets new design C-shaped LED tail lights with ‘Camry’ badging in between them. It has a ‘Toyota’ logo with an integrated spoiler on the boot lid and the lower part of the rear bumper has a black finish which gives it a rugged look.

The new model of Toyota Camry is actually a new name for luxury. Its bumpers look like Lexus. A bold character line has been carved on it. Apart from the front, the car also has seats with reclining and ventilation function at the rear. Their control is given on the center console at the rear of the car. The front seat of the car uses 10-way powered feature. It will also get three-zone auto climate control and panoramic sunroof.

The new Toyota Camry has an updated 2.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine, which is paired with the company’s fifth generation hybrid system THS 5. It has a 100kW permanent magnet synchronous motor with a lithium ion battery. Together, these two generate 230hp of power and 221Nm of peak torque. For transmission, the engine has been tuned with an e-CVT gearbox. The company claims that the car will run 25.49 km in one liter of petrol. Eco, Normal and Sport driving modes have been provided to drive this front wheel drive (FWD) car.

It has a bigger infotainment system. It features a fully digital instrument panel with new graphics, a new steering wheel, updated center console and seat upholstery, multi-zone climate control and ADAS.

Apart from this, many advanced features have also been included in this car including 360-degree surround camera. For the safety of the users, it has HUD, EPB, wireless mobile projection, wireless charger, 10-way adjustable powered front seat, 9 airbags and rear seat with recline function. This premium sedan car is fully feature loaded.

The ex-showroom price of the new Toyota Camry in India will be Rs 48 lakh. It is Rs 1.83 lakh more expensive than the 8th generation Toyota Camry. However, its closest rival in the market is the Skoda Superb, which is around Rs 6 lakh cheaper than it. This car will be brought to India in different parts and then it will be assembled here at the Bidadi plant in Karnataka.
