MG Windsor EV: MG Motor India has recently announced that it will launch its new electric vehicle, the Windsor, on September 11, 2024. The name 'Windsor' reflects the brand's British heritage, even though it is owned by a Chinese company. The Windsor EV is built on the Wuling Cloud EV. Ahead of its launch, here is all you need to know about the upcoming MG Windsor EV.
MG Windsor EV: Dimensions
Dimensions-wise, the Windsor EV measures 4,295 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width, and 1,652 mm in height. To give you an idea of ​​its size, it matches the length of the Hyundai Creta and Tata Curvv, but is slightly smaller than the ZS EV.

MG Windsor EV: Interior
Inside the MG Windsor EV, there are several advanced features such as a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment display and an 8.8-inch instrument cluster. Additional features will include a wireless phone charger, powered boot lid, a six-speaker sound system, 360-degree parking camera, automatic climate control, panoramic sunroof, and Level 2 ADAS. Also, the front seats will be power-adjustable, while all seats will get Italian bubble-style leatherette upholstery.

MG Windsor EV: Exterior
The 4,300 mm long Windsor EV will be positioned between the Comet EV and the ZS EV in MG's India EV lineup. In terms of design, it is expected to feature a larger front fascia with a full-width LED light bar, a closed-off grille, a wide air dam and projector headlamps. Additionally, the model could feature flush door handles, front door-mounted outside rearview mirrors, a wrap-around glasshouse and an integrated spoiler. The alloy wheels could be 18-inch units shod with 215/55-section tyres.

Talking about the powertrain, the MG Windsor EV will be powered by a 50.6 kWh battery, which will offer a range of 460 kilometers on a single charge. The battery pack can be fully charged up to 100% state of charge (SOC) in 7 hours using an AC charger. The battery can be charged up to 80% SOC in just 30 minutes using a DC fast charger. In terms of performance, the electric motor will produce a maximum power of 136 hp and a peak torque of 200 Nm, setting it up as a strong competitor to the recently introduced Tata Curve EV.

MG Windsor EV: Drivetrain
In the global market, two battery options are available - 37.9kWh and 50.6kWh, which send power to a 134bhp, front-axle-mounted electric motor. The first one claims a range of 360 km, while the second one offers a range of 460 km. It remains to be seen which of these variants will come to India.
The Windsor EV will be the brand's third electric offering for India. MG is expected to offer the Windsor EV competitively in terms of price - under Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). Upon arrival, the new Windsor EV will rival the Tata Nexon EV, BYD e6, Mahindra XUV400 and the upcoming Maruti Suzuki EVX.
