MG Motor India has revealed the full price list of the much-anticipated Comet EV. The prices of the all-new MG Comet EV range from Rs 7.98 lakh to Rs 9.98 lakh, ex-showroom. At this price point, it is India’s most affordable electric car and undercuts the top-spec Tata Tiago EV by a whopping Rs 2 lakh.

The new MG Comet EV is offered in three variants: Pace, Play, and Plush. Its prices range from Rs 7.98 lakh to Rs 9.98 lakh, ex-showroom. It is worth noting that these are introductory prices and will remain valid for the first 5,000 buyers only. Bookings for the same will begin on May 15 and the deliveries will commence on May 22, 2023.

The MG Comet EV has 17 hot printing panels for structural safety, making sure the safety of passengers in the happening of a crash. The vehicle has gone through 39 stringent tests for vehicle and battery safety.

The car comes with a great strength vehicle body, which makes it powerful and able of holding out against harsh weather conditions. It is filled with a 17.3kWh li-ion battery having Prismatic cells, which offers a range of about 230km.

According to previous teaser images, MG has outfitted the Comet EV with connected car technologydual 10.25-inch screens (one for instrumentation and one for infotainment), LED headlights with DRLs and taillights, and controls mounted on the steering wheel. In addition to dual front airbags, rear parking sensors, and electronic stability control, the ultra-compact electric vehicle is likely to include front and rear cameras.

As per the leaked information, the Comet EV is likely equipped with a 17.3kWh battery pack that has a claimed range of up to 230km. Powering the EV is a rear-axle-mounted 42PS/110Nm electric motor.

Here’s a look at its charging times:

  •  3.3kW AC charger (0-100%)- 7 hours
  • 3.3kW AC charger (0-80%)- 5 hours

Based on the leaked details, MG will not offer the larger battery pack option available with its Wuling sibling for increased range, likely to keep the prices in check.
