MG Motor Cars: These two cars of MG will create a stir in India

The giant automaker MG Motor India is going to bring its popular Astor SUV to India in a new avatar. Apart from this, the company will also bring the new Cloud EV in the compact MPV segment. The design patents of both these upcoming cars have been leaked on the web, revealing the futuristic design language. The new Astor is likely to debut in late 2025 and can be launched in India in 2026, while the new MPV is expected to go on sale in 2024.

Let's know about these two upcoming cars.

1- MG Cloud EV

After the ZS EV and Comet, the Cloud EV will be the company's third electric offering in India. The patent image shows a black-off front grille, projector headlamps, front dander-mounted charging port on the left and a wide air dam. This compact MPV will also feature dual-tone alloy wheels, black roof, panoramic sunroof, front door mounted ORVMs and integrated rear spoiler. The interiors of the MG Cloud EV are yet to be revealed. However, it is expected to get a large touchscreen infotainment system, fully digital instrument cluster, 3-spoke steering wheel, rear AC vents and horizontal AC vents.

In the global market, the Cloud EV has an electric motor with two battery pack options; 37.9kWh and 50.6kWh. With the smaller battery pack, it returns a range of 360 km and with the larger battery pack, it returns a range of 460 km.

Design

The globally available version features a seamless flowing design with almost round elements at the front. There are LED DRLs spread across the width at the front, with the headlamps housed in a separate housing at the bottom. The sides have a flat look without any curves or creases, and there are flush door handles along with silver aerodynamically designed 18-inch alloy wheels.

The rear too has a plain and simple look with connected LED tail lights. Inside, it has a minimalistic cabin, where the most noticeable thing is the large touchscreen. The dashboard has multiple layers of different materials including wood and bronze elements. The overall cabin has a dark theme with black leatherette upholstery, which has contrast bronze stitching.

2- MG Astor

Facelift The new generation MG Astor will get a new updated front fascia with a newly designed grille, tweaked bumper, and updated headlamps. The nose grille looks flatter than before, and the bonnet looks slightly longer. The side profile will be updated with newly designed alloy wheels and a new shoulder line. The wing mirrors will have lane watch cameras, and the glass area seems to be slightly larger than before. At the rear, it will get a redesigned bumper, wraparound taillamps and a redesigned tailgate. According to reports, the new MG Astor could be offered with three powertrain options petrol, diesel and hybrid.

The updated MG Astor will get a new colour scheme. Other highlights include the new face with sleeker LED headlamps with DRLs, redesigned grille with quilted diamond design, aggressive bumper with large air dam, front camera and blue accents on the nose which hints at its hybrid nature.

On the sides, the profile is more or less the same with blacked-out pillars, roof and ORVMs. Then, there is a silver accent on the skid plate along with silver-finished roof-rails. The Astor facelift will also get redesigned alloy wheels with dual-tone finish
