August started with a holiday as the first date of the month fell on Sunday. But half of the month will bring more holidays to both private and public sector banks. The Reserve Bank of India has released the calendar with a list of bank holidays in August 2021.
Though it’s a good thing for employees, customers will experience a delay due to bank holidays. Make sure you don’t have any pending payments or other bank-related work on the days mentioned in the list. Check it out below.
Bank Holidays In August 2021

There will be a total of 15 holidays this month including 5 Sundays and 2 Saturdays. Other days will either have regional or festive holidays. Here are the days when banks will be closed in only respective regions:
• 13th August – Manipur’s Patriot’s Day
• 16th August- Maharashtra will observe the holiday on 16th August on the occasion of Parsi New year
• 20th August- Bank in only 3 states Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Onam will remain closed on this day due to Onam
• 21st August- This day marks Thiruvonam which is the most important day of the Onam festival, only Kerala will observe the holiday on this day as per the RBI calendar
• 23rd August- Sri Naryana Guru Jayanthi
• 31st August- Banks in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh will stay closed on the occasion of Shree Krishna Ashtami
Muharram and Janmashtmi are the two major festivals falling on the 19th and 30th of this month so banks across the country will observe holidays on these days. Banks will have weekly offs on these days:
