At a ceremony in the city of Guwahati, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma initiated Jio True 5G services on Tuesday.
The telecom firm also unveiled their True 5G-enabled Wi-Fi services at the Maa Kamakhya Temple complex.

Sarma stated that, in addition to the already existing Rs. 9,500 crore investment Jio has made, they are now also investing over Rs 2,500 crore to deploy the True 5G network in Assam.

At the event, Jio unveiled the launch of several new solutions, including the Jio Community Clinic medical kit, augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR)-based health care with JioGlass, Smart Healthcare Solutions such as tele radiology, and connected ambulance.

Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chief Minister of Assam, expressed his delight at the launch of Jio's True 5G service in Guwahati.
He is of the opinion that True 5G has the potential to enhance the medical services infrastructure in the various areas of Assam.
It has a straightforward design and is able to link wirelessly to a range of medical equipment via 5G. With the support of experienced medical professionals, health care practitioners will be able to diagnose and provide treatment to individuals in the most isolated parts of Assam.

The Chief Minister noted that Jio is investing an additional Rs. 2,500 crore to establish their True 5G network in Assam, demonstrating their solid dedication to the state's progress. By the end of 2023, Jio True 5G services will be available in all towns and talukas of Assam.

Starting January 10, users in Guwahati and seven other cities across four states - Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana and Maharashtra - have been invited to the Jio Welcome Offer, which provides them with unlimited data at speeds of over 1 Gbps at no extra cost.
