License of 28 Private Hospitals Canceled After Jabalpur Hospital Fire Incident, Notice to 108 Hospitals

Jabalpur Hospital Fire: 28 Hospital Licenses Cancelled

After the fire incident at New Life Multispeciality Hospital of Jabalpur, the district administration has become strict regarding the compliance of fire, electrical, and building rules in private hospitals.

A notice has been sent to more than 100 private hospitals across the city and licenses of 28 such hospitals are canceled.

Government Set Deadline to Get Provisional Fire NOC

On August 3, the state government issued a circular regarding the abolishment of provisional fire NOC.

It also asked private hospitals to take NOC on a temporary basis for the duration of 3 years.

59 hospitals in the city are on a notice of one month to take temporary NOC.

All Hospitals Under the Investigation After the Fire Incident

On August 1, the New Multispeciality Hospital of the city caught fire in which 8 people died.

The youngest person to die was a 19-year-old boy whose name was Tanmay Vishwakarma. He was on a call with his dad when the incident happened.

Tammany’s last words were “ Papa, there is fire all around. Please come and save me.

Now, a 3-phase investigation has begun. The first phase will include the investigation of the fire, electrical, and building rules.

The second phase will include an inquiry regarding the qualifications of the doctors and other staff members working in the facility.

Notice Issued to 3 Members Regarding Jabalpur Hospital Fire Incident

Dr. Sanjay Mishra, a member of the CMHO and the four-member committee constituted for the investigation, said that

“Reports have been sought by issuing notices to the three members who have recommended the license after inspecting the New Life Multi Specialist Hospital.”

Moreover, a case is filed against the directors and the assistant manager of the hospital under IPC Sections 304 and 308.

Among all the accused, police booked Dr. Santosh Soni on the charges of culpable homicide and causing death by negligence.

On the other hand, Government announced a compensation of Rs 5 Lakh to the families of 8 people who died in the incident.
