 Controversy Began on These Lines:

“Puch raha hu bapu tumse, Ese mann mein thani kyon;
Ek hattdharmi tha Jinna, to uski baat mani kyon;
Azadi ke nayak the tum, kaise khalnayak jeet gaya;
Charka-charka karte the sab, jab jarurat padi mashal ki
Azadi ki dulhan apni hui 75 saal ki”

These lines of poetry that went viral from Rajkot have now created a ruckus across the country.

It is being said that the poet has insulted not only the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi but also the large population who have faith in him.

On the other hand, Devkrishna justified his writing by saying that we got half freedom. We have dreamt of Akhand Bharat but a part of our nation has been carved out. I showed the same in my poem.

He said the line- Charka-charka karte the sab, jab jarurat padi mashal ki means if Gandhi would have used Mashal along with charka, the battle of freedom would have been different.

Moreover, he represented the charka group to Mahatma Gandhi and Mashal group to Bhagat Singh and Subhash Chandra Bose.

These two groups were working separately for India’s freedom instead of working together.  Devkrishna also said that I had no intention to hurt anyone. However, he apologized for hurting the sentiments of the public.

Chancellor of Saurashtra University, Dr. Girish Bhimani, also reacted to the matter and said an investigation will be done on it.

Devkrishna’s poem also gained the attention of senior poets of the industry. Poet Rajesh Joshi advised him to read history and said that if he had read a little history, he would not have written such silly lines.

Senior critic writer Vijay Bahadur also reprimanded Devkrishna by saying he is insulting the sentiments of the whole nation and he doesn’t deserve an apology.
