One of the biggest newspaper agencies, Dainik Bhaskar, has been raided by the department of Income Tax on Thursday morning. The officials conducted searches at multiple office locations including Bhopal, Ahmadabad, and Jaipur.
According to reports, IT officials also raided the premises of the group’s promoters over alleged tax evasion. A total of 35 locations of 5 states have been raided so far as per the ANI.

IT dept. has also conducted raids at the Lucknow office of Bharat Samachar for tax fraud as per the sources. Upon this, leaders from opposition parties have become active and they are criticizing the government for their move.

The Rajya Sabha MP, Jairam Ramesh posted the news on Twitter saying Dainik Bhaskar is paying the price of exposing the ‘mismanagement’ by the government during the pandemic.

Dainik Bhaskar is one of the longest-running newspaper groups in India since 1948. It has three sister newspapers in Hindi, Marathi, and Gujarati. The group is extended in 12 states across the country with its headquarters at Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
