A leaked video has just shaken the Apple fanbase and this one feels bigger than the usual rumour cycle. The iPhone 18 Pro max has reportedly surfaced in a detailed video leak, showing what could be Apple’s most confident design shift in years. Smaller cutouts, smarter cameras and a serious performance jump are all on the table and it finally feels like Apple is moving again, not just refining.

The leak was shared by well-known tipster Jon Prosser from Front Page Tech and while Apple hasn’t confirmed anything, the details line up closely with what analysts have been predicting for months.

Let’s break it down.

iPhone 18 Pro max Design Changes

The biggest visual change on the iPhone 18 Pro max is right on the front. Apple may finally shrink the long-standing pill-shaped cutout. According to the video, several Face ID components are now hidden under the display, leaving just a single punch-hole camera.

What’s surprising is the placement. The selfie camera reportedly shifts to the top-left corner instead of the center. That’s a dramatic change for Apple, a company known for visual symmetry. Love it or hate it, this will instantly make the phone look different from older iPhones.

Dynamic Island isn’t going away either. It’s expected to move with the camera to the top-left, becoming smaller and less distracting. Personally, this feels like Apple admitting the Island was useful, but visually overbearing.

iPhone 18 Pro max camera upgrade

Camera upgrades on iPhones have felt incremental lately. That may change with the iPhone 18 Pro max.

The leak suggests Apple is testing a variable aperture main camera, allowing the lens to physically control light intake. This means:

  • More natural background blur
  • Better low-light shots
  • Less reliance on aggressive software processing

This feature may remain exclusive to the Pro Max model, which makes sense. Apple clearly wants to separate the “big Pro” buyers from the rest.

The rear setup is expected to include three 48MP sensors, main, ultrawide and periscope telephoto, finally standardising high-resolution sensors across the board.

iPhone 18 Pro max Performance

Under the hood, the iPhone 18 Pro max looks genuinely exciting. Both Pro models are expected to run on Apple’s next-generation A20 Pro chip, reportedly built on TSMC’s advanced 2nm process.

What matters more is Apple’s new WMCM packaging, which integrates RAM directly with the processor. In real-world terms, this should deliver:

  • Around 15% faster performance
  • Up to 30% better power efficiency
  • Stronger on-device AI features under Apple Intelligence

This is exactly the kind of upgrade Apple needed as AI becomes a core smartphone feature, not just a buzzword.

iPhone 18 Pro max battery and modem

Battery details are still incomplete, but leaks point to a 5,100mAh battery for the Pro Max. That’s a solid jump and long overdue.

Apple is also expected to debut its in-house C2 modem, reducing dependence on third-party suppliers. This could improve signal stability and battery efficiency, something Indian users, especially, will care about.

Another small but welcome change: Apple may ditch the finicky capacitive camera button in favour of a pressure-based control. Simpler. More reliable.

iPhone 18 Pro max Colors

Apple may finally be loosening up with Pro colours. The leaked video mentions three new finishes:

  • Burgundy
  • Brown
  • Purple

These shades would be a clear departure from Apple’s usual muted greys and silvers. It’s a small change, but one that could make the Pro Max feel less corporate and more personal.

iPhone 18 Pro max Launch Timeline

The iPhone 18 Pro max is expected to launch in the month of September 2026 with the iPhone 18 Pro and a new foldable iPhone. Interestingly, the standard iPhone 18 may be pushed to 2027, signalling a sharper focus on premium models.

This leak feels believable. The changes aren’t wild, but they’re deliberate. Apple isn’t reinventing the iPhone, but it is refining it in ways that longtime users have been quietly asking for.

If these leaks hold up, the iPhone 18 Pro Max won’t just be another annual upgrade. It could be the first iPhone in years that feels genuinely fresh again.
