Rumors have circulated for some time that the iPhone 15 Pro would feature a periscope lens, but now a report suggests that only the iPhone 15 Pro Max will be equipped with the new 5x periscope camera. According to The Elec, a South Korean publication, Apple is working on a "folding zoom" periscope camera module, which will be available exclusively on the larger of the two iPhone 15 Pro models.

This is in line with the predictions of analyst Ming Chi-Kuo, who had previously indicated that the periscope camera would be exclusive to the larger iPhone 15 Pro.
Both iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max may get the periscope zoom camera
It is expected that in 2024, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will both be equipped with a 5x periscope zoom camera. However, this year only the larger model will have the new zoom lens.

The report states that Jahwa Electronics has come up with "ball-guided actuators" which can be better employed in folded zoom modules compared to the spring actuators currently used in iPhone 14 Pro's telephoto module.
