Mask Parottas: In this pandemic, masks have become our new normal. So far you’ve probably seen diverse kinds of face masks making rounds online. From DIY versions to the designer ones, there are just so many types of masks. Indians are very creative at making things from ordinary to extraordinary. However this face mask is gonna beat the rest.
A restaurant situated in Madurai is making ‘Mask parottas’ to create awareness about wearing masks during this sensitive period. One set of mask parottas was initially sold for Rs 40, however after the concept went viral, they hiked the price and sold it for Rs.50. A set contains 2 parottas with a gravy.
“Besides spreading the message of safety and much-needed physical distance this helped us because earlier many used to come to our joints without masks but now all come covered to buy mask parottas,” said owner of the hotel chain K L Kumar.
“The ingredients are the same – maida, dalda, yeast, eggs and a little sugar. Making dough is important and it involves rigorous weaving and spinning. I used different masks including surgical ones to replicate them. Good, our humble parotta is raising awareness in pandemic times,” said Satish.
