Hyundai has begun series production of the Exter sub-compact SUV at its plant in Chennai. Prices for the Exter will be announced on July 10 and bookings have already begun for a token amount of Rs 11,000.

Hyundai Exter Exterior Design
The Exter looks very different from the Grand i10 Nios and Aura, despite being based on them. The front grille, C-pillar, and taillights are parametrically designed, as are many other Hyundai models. The LED taillights and daytime running lights on the Exter have an H-shaped signature. The Exter also features body cladding on the wheel arches and the doors, and it also gets faux skid plates in the front and rear bumpers.
Hyundai Exter Interior and Features
- While Exter and its siblings may appear utterly distinct from one another from the outside, the cabin’s similarities grow.
- The design of the dashboard is very similar, and like the other two, it has an 8-inch touchscreen.
- On the other hand, the instrument cluster in the i20 and the Verna is a fully digital unit.
- The Exter will get a sunroof and a dashcam, both of which will be firsts in the segment.
- The first will likely be available on higher models and will be a single-pane unit controlled by voice commands.
Hyundai Exter Powertrains
The Exter has Hyundai’s 1.2-liter gasoline engine, which has 83 horsepower and 114 lb-ft of torque. Either a 5-speed manual or an AMT will be mated to it. The Exter will also have a CNG kit installed by the factory. In CNG mode, the engine will produce 69 horsepower and 95.2 nm of torque, and it will only come with a 5-speed manual transmission.

The Exter, Hyundai’s most affordable SUV, will compete with the Tata Punch, Citroen C3, and Maruti Suzuki Ignis when it goes on sale.
