Holika Dahan 2024: According to the calculations of the Hindu calendar, this year the full moon date of Shukla Paksha of Phalgun month will start from 09.54 am on March 24 and will remain till 12.29 pm on March 25, 2024. Burning Holika on Purnima Tithi and Bhadra Mukt Kaal is considered auspicious. In such a situation, Holika Dahan will be played on 24th March and Holi with Colors will be played on 25th March.
The best time for Holika Dahan will be from 11:13 pm to 12:27 am. That means celebrating Holika during this time will be auspicious. Kanpur’s famous astrologer Pandit Manoj Kumar Dwivedi said that according to Vedic scriptures, worshiping Holika on the night of Holika can reduce the defects prevalent in the horoscope of any person.
Along with this, by worshiping Holika, a person can also remove Shani Dosh and Pitra Dosh. By roasting sugarcane and circling the fire on Holika Dahan, the defects are removed. By circling Holika, the planetary obstacles of a person are also removed.
Do these great measures on Holika Dahan
- At the time of Holika Dahan, it is auspicious for family members to circumambulate Holika together. While doing parikrama, add gram, peas, wheat and flaxseed to Holika. This is considered a surefire way to gain wealth.
- According to belief, on the night of Holi, light a ghee lamp under the Peepal tree and revolve around the Peepal tree seven times. By doing this all the obstacles in life can be removed.
The next day after Holika Dahan, one should first go to the temple and offer gulal to God, only after that Holi should be played. - Adding camphor at the time of Holika destroys the harmful germs present around us.
At the time of Dahan, remember Goddess Lakshmi by offering some mustard seeds to Holika. Doing this brings blessings of Goddess Lakshmi to the house.
Essential rules and worship method of Holika Dahan
- According to Hindu scriptures, Holika Dahan should be performed only when the Purnima tithi prevails in Pradosh Kaal (time starting after sunset). Holika puja before burning has special significance for happiness, peace, and prosperity in the house.
- While worshiping Holika, sit facing east or north. The puja thali should include puja items like roli, flowers, garland, coconut, raw cotton, whole turmeric, moong, gulal and five types of grains, ears of wheat, and a pot of water.
- It is auspicious to wrap raw yarn around Holika by doing seven parikramas with the family. After this, offer water to Holika after performing ritual worship, and after sunset, burn Holika during Bhadra Mukt Kaal.
- The ashes of Holika Dahan are considered very sacred. Therefore, by rubbing this ash on the body the next morning after Holika Dahan, all diseases and sorrows are destroyed.
