Gmail Update Alert: Gmail Adds Blue Checkmark To Verify Senders

Gmail

On the internet, you can never be too safe. Since fraudulent emails and impersonations of legitimate entities are a constant source of data breaches.

While users are always urged to follow security precautions, businesses are also accountable for the security of their products. And Google just released a brand-new Gmail update that reveals its newest security ploy.

At its essence, it entails adding blue verification checkmarks to the email addresses of the senders. And it is a continuation of Google’s effort from the previous year to make Gmail safer.

Google Adds Blue CheckMark

Google already enabled support for certified brand logos, in case you missed it. That made it simpler to determine whether the mail originated from a reputable and verified sender. However, things did not turn out the way Google had hoped. Consequently, a fresh update appears.

The BIMI system included Google’s most recent endeavor. At first, the Gmail feature appeared fantastic, but criminals found a way to bypass it. They accomplished this by setting up regular email accounts with profiles that appeared to be real.

And Google was inspired by Twitter’s verification method for the most recent phase. According to Google, the BIMI system is being expanded to make Gmail safer than it was previously

It now displays a blue checkmark next to the names of verified senders. According to what it looks, the feature might make it simpler for recipients to determine whether the mail comes from a phony sender.

For phishing scammers, though, adding a checkmark next to the account that appears real might be simple work. As everyone is aware, Twitter users may already add a blue checkmark next to their ID using hacks.

And Gmail is capable of the same thing. But as of right now, only legitimate businesses can use the BIMI process. That might discourage dishonest people from accessing user data now.

This year, Google came with much  more updates such as:

New Dedicated Tabs

Spaces are located between the Chat and Meet tabs. The main tool for collaboration in Google Workspace is this tab, where you may establish several team spaces.

You can send messages, start threads, share files, and assign tasks to members, just like other collaboration apps like Slack and Trello. Last but not least, the Meet page lists all of your booked Google Meet sessions along with their details.

Other Apps Integration

In addition to these new productivity tools, Google is incorporating its own apps as well as those of other third parties into Google Workspace. A vertical bar with a number of icons should be visible on the right side of your screen.

Calendar, Keep, Tasks, and Contacts are the first four icons. You should see a little window open when you click any of these icons, allowing you to utilize them without leaving Google Workspace

By selecting the plus (+) sign, you may also add more third-party applications. Popular productivity and teamwork apps like Trello, Slack, Asana, Zoom, and others are among these apps.
