Chennai Challenges: Cyclone Michaung Rain, and Recovery Efforts Begin

Chennai had heavy rain and strong winds from Cyclone Michaung. This caused floods, accidents, and sadly, seven people died. The airport had problems; flights got canceled or changed because of the rain and strong winds.

The weather department said Cyclone Michaung became a severe cyclonic storm. Because of the bad weather, flights stopped until 9 am the next day. Before that, no planes landed at the Chennai airport from 9:17 am to 11:30 am. The city is now working to help people affected by the heavy rain and its problems. Rescuers are trying to make things better.

Chennai faced intense rain on Monday night as Cyclone Michaung approached the Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh coasts. The heavy rain caused waterlogging near many metro stations in Chennai. At St Thomas metro station, water accumulated up to 4 feet, blocking entry to the station. Passengers were directed to board the metro train at Alandur for their safety.

The city grappled with challenges due to the downpour and its consequences, impacting transportation and accessibility for residents.
