Former RBI Governor Raghuram Rajan turns 58 today. He is an Indian economist and Professor of Finance at the University of Chicago. He was the 23rd Governor of the Reserve Bank of India. He was also the 15th Chief Economic Advisor to the Government of India from 2012 to 2013. The economist also held the position of 7th Chief Economist of the International Monetary Fund. Sounds great! Doesn’t it?

- Raghuram Rajan was born in a Tamil family in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh. He completed his graduation in BTech from IIT Delhi.
- After studying BTech, the economist pursued MBA from IIM Ahemdabad. He later discovered his interest in finance and economics and done a Ph.D. in the same. He holds Ph. D. in the theory of financial decisions from MIT.

- He was designated as the first non-westerner and youngest Economic counselor and Director of Research at IMF.
