Honey possesses antibacterial and antimicrobial properties. Taking honey in a tea with lemon will prevent sickness and clear your throat. Research says that honey is the most effective cough suppressant.

3. Salt Water
This is a very old therapy to cure a cold and cough. Gargling with hot salt water helps you to prevent upper respiratory infections. It may also relieve sore throat pain & nasal congestion.
Adding turmeric to saltwater is also beneficial.
Garlic possesses antimicrobial properties and compounds like allicin. Consume a few garlic cloves sauteed in ghee (when it is warm). This cannot taste good but has a great soothing impact on your cold and cough problem.

5. Vapour Rub
Vapor rub is a very easy and quick option for having a good night’s sleep while the cold is affecting you. Rub a thick layer on your throat or chest of Vicks vapor rub and cover yourself with a warm, dry cloth.
