Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Vir Das, and Sushmita Sen were high hopes for India at International Emmy Awards 2021 which held last night on 22nd November at Casa Cipriani, New York. All the three were selected for Emmy nominations in different categories- Nawazuddin for Best Performance By an Actor, Vir Das for Comedy, and Ram Madhvani’s Aarya for drama Series.

Best Performance by an Actor went to David Tenant for his role in Des. David, 50, did not attend the event as he is shooting in Scotland. The actor is widely popular for his roles in Doctor Who, Casanova, and more.

Israeli Series ‘Tehran’ Wins Best Drama Award
Sushmita Sen’s Aarya was nominated in this category along with El Presidente, Tehran, and There She Goes-Season 2. ‘Tehran’ which is a thriller series by Moshe Zonder bagged award. It is a fictional spy story where a Mossad agent moves to Iran for a secret mission.
Call My Agent Beats Vir Das: For India In Comedy
Comedian Vir Das who was recently in news for its monologue ‘Two Indias’ was nominated in the Comedy category at International Emmy Awards 2021. The French-drama comedy ‘Call My Agent’ wins the prestigious award. The series feature three agents of a talent firm who struggles with their business strategy and how their professional lives indirectly affect their personal lives.

Hayley- Best Actress For Adult Material
English actress, Hayley, was awarded the ‘Best Performance’ award in the female category for Adult Material. The 33-years-old actress was also nominated in British Academy Television Awards for her performance in the 4-part British drama ‘Adult Material’. The series is a complete female-centric work that shows the life of a young woman working in the adult film industry.
