The very first step you have to follow is to park the car, turn off the engine and remove the key from its slot. You have to wait till the engine is off, as you can hurt yourself with the warm engine. In many cars, the batteries are placed at the front of the vehicle, under the bonnet, and set up on a plastic or metal tray.

Although, some cars have their batteries placed at the back of the vehicle in the trunk.

A battery has two terminals where cables get connected. They may have plastic covers. These add a black one, negative, and a red one, positive one. The terminals are marked with a (+) sign denoting a positive terminal and a (-) sign denoting a negative terminal.

Firstly, you have to disconnect the negative cable. To do this, you have to ensure that you have your gloves and eye protection on. Use a wrench to loosen the bolt that is placed at the negative connector to the car battery terminal

Once, it gets loose then gently twist the cable connector back and forth and lift it up to take it off. Do the same process to remove the positive cable.
