Former PCB chief gave a big statement!
Former PCB chairman Khalid Mahmood also believes that the chances of the Indian team going to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy are very low. He said, ‘It is very unlikely that they will agree to play in Pakistan. India is the richest cricket board and has a lot of influence. If they do not send their team to Pakistan, then I think countries like Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and Bangladesh will also follow their path.’
Can all the matches of Team India be held in Lahore?
Pakistan has said that it will ensure that all the matches of the Indian cricket team are played in Lahore and the Indian team will stay in the same hotel during the entire series. It also said that being in one city will make it easier to provide full security to the visiting side. Apart from this, the PCB recently announced that it has acquired a piece of land near the Gaddafi Cricket Stadium in Lahore to build a 5-star hotel. Sources have revealed that the PCB plans to build the hotel itself and plans to complete the construction by early next year.
PCB sources said the newly built 5-star hotel will eliminate the need for teams to stay in distant hotels, which will avoid road closures for security. Notably, the PCB chief and Jay Shah are also expected to meet during the ICC Annual Conference in Colombo. Sources said Naqvi will try to convince Shah to send the Indian team to Pakistan.
Team India did not go to Pakistan for Asia Cup
The Indian cricket team refused to go to Pakistan for the Asia Cup last year, due to which the matches were held in Sri Lanka. Pakistan and India have not played any bilateral series since 2012, with the Indian government restricting cricket matches with Pakistan to ICC or ACC events.
