IND vs SL: Team India has left for Sri Lanka for the 3-match T20 and ODI series starting on July 27. In the T20 format, Team India will have a new captain in Suryakumar Yadav, while veteran skipper Rohit Sharma will lead the side in the ODI leg of the tournament.

The upcoming series with Sri Lanka has gained a lot of momentum, as this will be the first time we will see Gautam Gambhir in the coach’s chair. The former Indian cricketer was appointed as the coach by the BCCI earlier this month after he led KKR to their third IPL title this year.

Speaking to reporters at his first press conference as head coach on Tuesday, Gambhir said he wants Rohit and Kohli to be available for most of the matches. “Rohit and Virat are not playing T20 cricket, so we have only two formats to focus on. I am sure they will be available for most of the matches,” Gambhir said. “They have shown what they can do on the big day… in the T20 World Cup, in the 50-over World Cup as well,” he added.
