Talking about her early life, Draupadi was born on 20th June 1958 in Baidaposi village of Mayurbhanj district, Odisha. Her father's name was Biranchi Narayan Tudu who was a village headman under Panchayati Raj System.
Draupadi was married to Shyam Charan Murmu and had three children, two sons and one daughter. Unfortunately, she lost her both sons. Now she only has one daughter whose name is Itishri Murmu.

Draupadi Murmu Political Career

After this, Murmu was assigned as the district president of BJP for the Mayurbhanj district and served from 2002 and 2015. During this tenure, she also worked as MLA of Rairangpur, State president of Scheduled Tribe Morcha in 2006, etc. In 2015, Draupadi was elected as the Governor of Jharkhand.

Some Interesting Things to Know About Draupadi Murmu

2. Before entering into politics, Draupadi worked as an assistant professor at Shri Aurobindo Integral Education and Research, Rairangpur. She also joined the Irrigation department of Odisha as a Junior Assistant.
3. In 2007, the Legislative Assembly of Odisha honoured her with the “Nilakantha Award” for being the best MLA of the year.
4. After getting elected as the district president of BJP in 2002, she retained her position three consecutive times.
