WhatsApp tests new ‘frequently forwarded’ label to restrain fake news

While enhancing its efforts to curb the spread of fake news through forwarded messages, Whatsapp is seeking for a new tool that will help users to recognize better if a particular message is already doing rounds or not.

As per the latest technology news, the new feature is currently in beta for Android and tags messages you send as ‘frequently forwarded’ if they have been already shared five or more times.

You can also check the number of times a specific message has been forwarded from the Message Info section where you’ll be able to see the exact forwarding count.

Currently, this feature only sends messages that are being sent and not the messages which you receive. It’s not clear when this feature will be delivered to the general public.
