Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, the serial that has come a long way on the television has been tangled into a controversy. In a recent episode, Champaklal Gada (Amit Bhatt) made a controversial statement stating Hindi as Mumbai’s common language.
Apparently the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena did not take the statement lightly and highlighted the matter on Twitter.
The President of cinema wing of MNS, Ameya Khopkar tweeted asking for an apology from the maker of TMKOC:

Ameya Khopkar made it very clear through this tweet that Mumbai’s language is only Marathi. Also, he said that these Gujarati insects should stop. Also, the Marathi actors of TMKOC should be ashamed of this statement made.
Producer Asit Kumar Modi immediately apologized on Twitter clarifying their intentions were not to hurt anyone’s sentiments.

Amit Bhatt also apologized for the statement he made by saying:
“while portraying a character I perform whatever is demanded by the scriptwriters. I personally respect Marathi language and I am proud of it. I wholeheartedly apologize for the mistake”.
