This is his first international appearance and in the first attempt itself the actor made to one of the prestigious award of Britain, BAFTA. The actor nailed his role of driver in the movie and has stolen attention of audience toward him through his powerful performance.
However, it was not easy for him and he was almost on the edge of quitting entertainment industry. He had no project and was afraid to give auditions for the movie but he gave importance to work and remained focused. The result is his great performance and not just in the movie in real life as well he came out as a star.

This Aravind Adiga’s award-winning novel based story depicts the struggle of middle class man. The story shows the sides of a rich couple and society who easily put blames of their sin on a middle-class Balram. But, the chauffeur Balram came out of the entire situations on his own.
This is only Bollywood movie to be listed in the longlists of 74th British Academy of Film and Television Art.
