Sweden’s Princess Sofia Hangs Her Crown To Become A Healthcare Volunteer

As doctors and health workers are joining hands to combat against the deadly coronavirus, Sofia has also started working in a hospital. She is a princess of Sweden and aside from her royal duties came up to treat patients suffering from the Covid-19.

Princess Sofia got a three-day intensive online training program to treat patients. After completing this course, she became a volunteer as a front line worker to give their contribution to the deadly pandemic.

The Royal Central reveals that Sofia is currently working as a healthcare assistant at the Hospital in Stockholm. Also, she does not directly come in contact with the Covid-19 patients. She only helps healthcare professionals in carrying out simple or non-medical tasks.

A spokesperson from The Royal Central further said:

“In the crisis, we find ourselves in, the Princess wants to get involved and make a contribution as a voluntary worker to relieve the large workload of health care professionals.”

Every week Sophiahemmet Hospital provides training around 80 people with non-medical backgrounds. The purpose behind training is to reduce the pressure and workload of the healthcare workers. Support duties like working in the kitchen, cleaning, disinfectant equipment, and so on teach through online courses.

As we write this, Sweden has recorded 12,540 positive cases of COVID-19 with a death toll of 1,333.
